Meandering South

As I write this, I am sitting in a Walmart parking lot in Galax Virginia. Let me catch you up as to how we arrived here. We left Poughkeepsie New York the day after the wedding. We got on the road later than planned because after we hooked up the jeep to be towed, the lights didn't work. We always test them prior to driving because they are so important and a good reason to get pulled over by the police. It took John 30-40 minutes to rewire and tape the connection. The tree colors along the route were beautiful. We went to the Hershey Thousand Trails Park. The minute we arrived we were greeted by hundreds of Canadian Geese..... squaking and walking everywhere. The dogs went crazy....     Eventually the dogs settled down and just ignored them. The park was pretty, well kept and winding down for the season. Here are a few pictures.
We only planned to spend 2 nights there, just to check things out. We put the antnnae up and received 2 stations. John added water to our supply and got back in sinc with the hook-up and tear down procedures again. When we were ready to leave we were delayed, once again, because we couldn't get the antennae to go back down. At least we remembered to try and lower it. Number 4 still intact. John climbed up on the roof and mannually put it down. We don't plan to put it back up until we arrive at Sycamore lodge in Jackson Springs NC where we will be staying for 10 days.
We have been averaging 200+ miles per day for the past 2 days and John is exhausted. So today we did 170. He has decided he needs to ease back into driving the distances. Last year on the way back to Pa we averaged 300 miles per day. Tomorrow we set out towards Charlotte NC. We will be staying nearby and hoping to touch base with my sister who lives in that area. The day after we go to Jackson Springs.

Hershey Thousand Trails is John and my home base.

We have only been there in the summer, but I bet the trees were beautiful.

Keep up the good work with your blogging. Remember I am "RV'ing" through you until John and I can get underway ourselves!
